Let's Learn about Dyslexia

October is an excited time of the year. The leaves are changing and fall is officially here. While we enjoy these seasonal changes, I also want to bring attention to the fact that October is also Dyslexia and ADHD Awareness Month! I want to take some time this month to education and start spreading the word on these two topics to help better educate our community so that we can do what this community does best … spread positivity!

Let's dive into Dyslexia!

Dyslexia is a learning disability that affects so many!  1 in 10 people in fact have dyslexia.  Some do not know that they do.  It has a ray of how it affects people to different degrees.

Dyslexia is just want I mentioned a learning disability and is not related to low intelligence. In fact there are many well-known, amazing people that are members of this tribe! In fact the shirt I designed has a list of just a few of the famous people on the back that have dyslexia.  You can check it out here!

Some interesting facts about people with dyslexia are:

1- Many times they have excellent thinking skills.

2- Many with dyslexia have better verbal vocabulary then those without dyslexia.

3- Dyslexia can run in families.

4- Many times they have wonderful comprehension of stories read or told to them.

I believe the more you know about a topic the better you can do with that topic. There are many misconceptions about dyslexia out there. Let's take some time to educate ourselves so that we can be knowledgeable and kind to others.

I am excited to have this new t-shirt design in the shop this month.  What a better way to raise awareness on a topic that affects so many then to wear a positive definition around!

I am going to feature facts on ADHD this month as well.  I am excited to raise awareness and education for both of these causes!
